Ken Atchison - Managing Director
Ken has been involved in financial markets since the early 1970s. After gaining significant experience in the management of investment portfolios, he moved to providing investment advice to superannuation funds. In the years prior to establishing Atchison Consultants in 2001, he was a senior asset consultant with the global firm Towers Perrin (now part of the Russell Group).
Ken’s consultancy experience covers a broad range of areas within investment portfolio and business management. This includes advice on the setting up of investment management businesses, the choice of in-house or outsourced investment management arrangements, the setting of investment policy and structures for investment strategy, capital market analysis and investment manager research and selection. Ken holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Melbourne University.
Kevin Toohey - Principal
Kevin has significant experience in providing advice regarding the management of investment portfolios with a range of financial institutions including superannuation/pension funds, non-profit groups, local government and insurance companies. In addition Kevin has been directly involved with the development of a number of investment management products for market.
Prior to joining Atchison Consultants, Kevin was a quantitative analyst with the Melbourne based index provider, Australian Indices. Kevin holds a Bachelor of Computer Science and a Masters of Applied Finance.
Jake Jodlowski - Principal
Jake joined Atchison Consultants in 2011 and has been directly involved with the investment management and superannuation industry for over 17 years in the UK and Australia. Jake commenced his career with a major firm of chartered accountants in London, specialising in taxation, transitioning to managing investment trust funds and HNW portfolios.
Jake joined Select Managed Funds Limited (SMF) in Australia in 1993 which subsequently through a number of acquisitions and mergers became IOOF Holdings Ltd (IOOF). Jake was part of the Senior Executive Team at IOOF and head of funds management responsible for funds under management in excess of $13 billion. Jake holds a Bachelor of Business Degree, Diploma and Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investments, Master’s of Applied Finance and Investments and is a qualified accountant (ACCA).
Peter Williamson - Principal
Peter is an actuary with over 25 years experience in the superannuation and asset consulting industries. Peter established the asset consulting firm of Counterpoint in 2002, and joined Atchison Consultants in 2010. A former principal of Wm M Mercer, and head of asset consulting at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Peter also has served as chairman of the Government Employees’ Superannuation Board from 1990 to 1999.
He has broad experience with a range of financial institutions including superannuation funds, non-profit groups, local government and insurance companies. Peter has a B.Sc. from Sydney University, and is a fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia, a Senior Associate of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Alex Wong - Senior Analyst
Alex joined Atchison Consultants as an Analyst in 2016 and was appointed to the position of Senior Analyst in 2018. Alex provides quantitative modelling and analytics support to the team. Alex holds a Masters of Banking and Finance from Monash University. Prior to this, Alex was an Aerospace Engineer with 9 years of aviation experience and also holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Aerospace).
Robert Lauria - Investment Analyst
Robert provides quantitative modelling and analytics support to the team. Robert holds a Master of Financial Analysis as well as a Bachelor in Finance. Prior to his current position, Robert worked in the Wealth Management business for over five years.
Chris provides quantitative modelling and analytics support to the team. He has a background in accounting and banking. Chris holds a Master of Economics as well as a Bachelor of Commerce and has extensive experience in conducting economic research and technical analysis.
Terry Toohey - Senior Consultant
Terry has extensive experience in both the investment and capital markets over the past 40 years, holding senior positions with National Mutual, Citibank, National Discount and Westpac. Over the past 10 years he has been Managing Director of Australian Indices Pty Ltd.
Warren Sanft - Senior Consultant
Warren has 17 years experience in domestic and international capital markets. Much of this was with JB Were culminating in him establishing and being appointed Managing Director of JB Were Futures. He spent over 3 years in the treasury department of Elders Finance and Investment Co. Ltd. Subsequently Warren worked in real estate markets for 12 years involving commercial, agricultural and residential properties. Warren has a Bachelor of Economics from Monash University.
Roger Goldsmith - Senior Consultant
Roger has had considerable experience in both investment and capital markets over the last 40 years. He began his career in funds management, before moving into broking and principal dealing with BT Australia and Capel Court. Roger then worked for ten years with Deutsche Bank, where he was a Director in their Financial Markets Division. More recently, he worked at Invesco in interest rate portfolios and asset allocation. At Atchison Consultants, he has been involved in assisting clients with investment processes and risk management. Roger holds a Master of Administration and Bachelor of Economics from Monash University. He is a Fellow of Finsia and a CPA.
Stefano Cavaglia - Senior Consultant
Stefano completed a PhD in Finance at the University of Chicago in 1990. In 1998, under the mentorship of Gary Brinson and Jeff Diermeir, he led the restructuring of UBS Asset Management’s Global Equity investment platform with a view to emphasize the importance of industry factors in the construction of global equity portfolios. Subsequently, he founded and managed a $1.3b hedge fund at UBS O’Connor, Chicago that corroborated his empirical findings.
He was Head of Investment Research at Findex where he managed multi-asset class portfolios ($16b) for endowments and family offices. His team developed factor-based tools for evaluating managers and for building fund of funds portfolios both long only and long/short mandates.
